Design is more than pure aesthetics. We connect to a higher order of our culture, our community, and
ourselves, as we improve the built environment. If simply providing shelter was the object of our creation then
Architecture would cease to exist and we would deny ourselves of the full measure of our well being.
Purpose:
To recognize and give support to an outstanding student in architecture. The award will be given for use as
tuition for Graduate School.
Criteria:
- Winner will be announced at the Design Awareness Event in Salt Lake City on
March 24, 2005.
- Winning submission will be featured on the Design Awareness website
- Winner will recieve $1,500 prize applied to tuition.
Submittal:
- To be considered, your
entry must be postmarked
no later than March 4,
2005.
- Show proof of application to graduate school in Architecture, Planning, or Landscape Architecture.
Include in your submission application forms, letters of recommendation, and any other materials that show your application has been made. Award will be issued at time tuition is due. A second and third alternate will be selected in the event the winner is not accepted to a graduate school of design.
- Show proof that an overal GPA of 3.0 and 3.3 in design studio classes has been achieved. Include
a copy of transcripts or appropriate document in your submission.
- Submit a Call for Entry
- Submit portfolio of student work.
- Submissions shall be in a format no larger that 11” x 17”.
Judging
The entries will be judged by a panel of architects. Overall quality and accurateness of the submission,
quality of the portfolio, and craftsmanship of the submission will be judged in determining a winner.
