2005 AWARDS : The Solutia Ultron Rising Star Award go Back

Awarded to an outstanding senior design student nominated by the Interior Design Department from BYU-Ricks, Weber State University or Utah State University. This deserving designer will experience environmental education and color forecasting from the perspective of the carpet industry's largest provider of extruded fiber.

The award includes a mill tour and trip to Solutia's extrusion plant in Florida for an incredible learning experience that highlights the construction of fiber and its chemistry, environmental information for specifiers, and color forecasting. The lucky winner will enjoy accommodations at the San Destin Beach Resort, with free time to explore the quaint seaside resort known for the whitest beaches in the world. The trip will be April 16th - 20th or May 11th - 13th. The winner must be available for one of these dates.

The two runners-up will each be awarded a special gift from Solutia and Shaw Contract!

Criteria:

  • Letter of endorsement from Interior Design Professor from: BYU-Ricks, Weber State University, or Utah State University.
  • Letter of Intent from nominated senior. Letter of Intent to state: Personal Goals-Past, Present, and Future, 100 words or less.
  • A representation of nominated senior's work from his/her portfolio (can be a project from junior or senior year) to include: a concept statement of 150 words or less, a floor plan, reflected ceiling plan, perspective rendering, and millwork drawing. All drawings must be those of the nominated senior, whether part of a team project or individual project.
  • "Packaging"of the criteria requested.
  • GPA
  • Personal Interview with Jury. Jury members: Shaw/Solutia representatives, Salt Lake Design Awareness Foundation Board Members, and an IIDA Board Member.
  • Criteria due February 25th.
