Working closely with planners, architects and contractors, Snyder Design Group of Billings , Montana successfully meet the interior design challenges of United Blood Services new facilities at 144 Grand Ave. in Billings . Snyder Design Group interfaced daily with administration and operations staff to complete this “state of the art” Center that serves 32 hospitals with nearly 30,000 blood and plasma units annually. UBS encompasses every function from donor interview, to packing and shipping across a vast expanse of the Northern Rocky Mountain region.

Completed on October 25, 2004, the center is a high tech facility occupying 18,600 sq. ft. at a cost of $3.2 million dollars. According to Patti Snyder, ASID, CID the interior design objective was to invite people into the building and make them comfortable during their 45-minute process of donating vitally needed blood. She quickly points out, “that the interior design elements work nicely for the staff and various suppliers as well.” Her design concepts include use of color inspired by Native American cultures found in this region of the U.S. – specifically reds, browns tea and rest for warmth and vibrancy. Motifs from nature include grasses, leaves, streams, rimrock landscapes and the famous Big Skies of Montana and Wyoming . Textures include native stone, woods, smooth and colorful laminates , and coordinating fabrics. The “mood” of the Snyder Design Group interior design, is a blend of exciting modernism and customer relaxation, Snyder believes.

Services donated by Snyder Design Group for the UBS building project included, (1) a grant application proposal for a Bair Foundation “family grant” for a children's area and educational conference room, (2) an extensive proposal, bound with graphics, illustrations, plans and budgets for submittal to the Bair Foundation, and (3) additional follow through efforts that resulted in a $15,000.00 grant to UBS for both these additions to the new facility.
