2003 AWARDS : Theresa Bradley Student Award : Candice Christensen go Back

Name: Candice Christensen
School: Utah State University

Ever since I was a young girl, I have constantly strived to do my best and to be the best at what I do. I love any challenge that lies ahead of me and the more difficult the better. I have always believed that the more challenges I face, the stronger my character will be. I tackle projects, head on and then take the extra-mile when completing them; nothing is left undone.

I am from Murray, Utah. And I have lived there almost my entire life. Growing up as the middle child of five was difficult, but I have a very supportive family. I have always been interested in design; I took a few architectural drawing classes in high school and really enjoyed them. I decided to move away to school, and after my freshman year, I knew I wanted a career in Interior Design. My life has been eventful ever since. I work at a bakery during the school year, and I love it and I wait on tables during the summers in Salt Lake City. I have also had so many great opportunities in my life; I was chosen as a United States Student Ambassador and was able to travel to Australia and I was able to visit some countries in Europe, which was one of my inspirations in deciding my future. I found that while I was in Europe I loved art and different styles of architecture. It was so amazing to take in all of that history; I really developed a love for all of the different cultures.

I have always been a goal-oriented person. Accomplishing everyday goals was always very important to me, but recently, I am realizing my long-term goals, like graduating from college, I can see that day in the near future. I love being able to know what I want out of life and actually make it happen. Scoring in the top of my class or getting a satisfying job after graduation are two of my goals that are very essential to my everyday activities. I know that my goals are possible as long as I work hard and stick to them. Every opportunity I receive right now is the chance of a lifetime, and I am going to put everything I have into it.

My job during the summer, and hopefully a hobby for the rest of my life, is waiting on tables. I love serving people. The activity and involvement of working with different people everyday, excites me. A successful server must be able to multi-task and complete may jobs at once, something that I am very good at doing. Working with people has also helped me to manage different personalities and patience levels as well.

I am a very detail oriented person who is dependable and honest. My entire life revolves around my schoolwork and my future career, although an occasional trip home or a date sometimes distracts me on the weekends. I have always been the type of person that is very dedicated to my work. I do not believe in letting others done and I especially do not believe in anything but the best for myself.
