2nd place:
Name: Justin Brent Morris
School: Brigham Young University - Idaho
As I continue in my education of Interior Design, I stand erectly to the quote by Daniel
Burnam, "Make no little plans, they have no magic to stir men's minds." I have many
plans for my future, and I am willing to take the risk of failure to achieve them, for many
times that is the only way to achieve our goals. My education at Brigham Young
University-Idaho has helped me to grow, not only educationally, but also mentally. I
have come to know myself so much more by taking risks that are necessary in the field of
design and architecture.
Personal Accomplishments:
I believe one can categorize personal accomplishments into many different categories
such as awards, family, and self. I believe my most colossal accomplishments lie within
the walls of my home. I pride myself in the ability to balance the many rigors that
accompany fatherhood, work, school and my duties as a husband. I thoroughly enjoy
watching my two young children grow and mature, I can't imagine not being a part of
their lives. There is nothing more important to me than my family. I have achieved
many awards and honors during my education at Brigham Young University-Idaho, and
feel privileged to have my had work recognized.
I am currently serving as the ASID President Elect and enjoy working with my fellow
classmates to achieve exceptional scholarship and experience in the field of Interior
Design.
For two years, I lived in the country of Chile, offering service to the people there. The
experiences that I lived were truly amazing and the growth that I experienced as a person
was phenomenal. I learned to appreciate the many blessing and opportunities that our
great nation offers us.
Goals:
As I mentioned, I have many plans for my future. Design is in my blood, and I plan to
have my hands in all forms of design. Whether it be Product Design or Interior Design, I
have a thirst to create.
Upon completion of my Bachelor's degree from BYU-Idaho, I plan to continue my
education and achieve a Master's degree in Architecture. I feel it is necessary to be
educated in all forms of design in order to be productive and efficient.
I also feel a huge responsibility to use my talents and abilities as an Interior Designer to
better the world that we live in through "Green Design", and finding better and more
innovative ways to use natural materials.
At some time in my career I plan to become an educator. I am so grateful for the
educators that have touched my life in the past and present, and I believe that is one of
many ways that I can achieve my goals to better the world that we live in. As an
educator, one touches the lives of many by simply sharing the knowledge that has graced
their lives.
