Name: Marcy Price
School: Brigham Young University - Idaho

PERSONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

Since I can remember, I have been a hard worker and have wanted to do well in my endeavors. That philosophy has remained with me through college. I have been on the Honor Roll at BYU-Idaho (the former Ricks College) since my first semester of college, and because of that, I have had a full tuition scholarship. I am a member of Phi Theta Kappa and am on the Dean's List.

Because of my work ethic, I have been the major source of my financial support during college. I work during summer terms to accumulate money to pay for housing. During the school year, I maintain at least one job to pay for various other expenses such as books, food and gas. The summer of 2002, this year following my sophomore year in the Interior Design Program, I moved to Ogden, Utah, to work as an intern for the architectural firm Salerno Bertoldi Architects. While working there I greatly improved my drafting skills, I became more aware of the capabilities of the AutoCAD software, I increased my knowledge about the design field, and I enhanced my teamwork skills. My internship opened an opportunity for me to work as a student drafter for the BYU-Idaho campus architect—one of my current jobs—at the beginning of my junior year in college. This employment experience has helped me to continue to learn the AutoCAD program and strengthen my computer drafting abilities.

LEADERSHIP AND TEACHING POSITIONS:

I have been the president for a young women's religious youth group. I oversaw the affairs of about thirty young women in this position. I was the group leader for a kitchen project with an actual client in the community. I organized meetings and informed the group and the client of meetings.

I have served as a teacher for a woman's service organization. I taught about principles and virtues. I am currently serving as a teacher for a family history class, in which I direct others in the importance of finding the names of one's ancestors and performing work for them. I also encourage students to participate in family search programs.

INTERESTS:

Science is one of my favorite school subjects. Astronomy is one of my hobbies. I own a telescope and love to look into the heavens and ponder its mystery and fascination. I currently hold a job as a telescope technician at the BYU-Idaho campus observatory. Along with looking at the sky, I love being under it. I enjoy outdoor sports such as snowmobiling, four wheeling, skiing, snowboarding, fishing, horseback riding, camping, hiking, etc. My entire family of seven participates in these activities together.

GOALS:

I want to have a good, solid, educational background with a professional degree in order to help provide for myself or my future family. I plan to continue expanding my knowledge in the design arena with the intention of contribution to the design field as an educator. My aspiration is to gain professional experience, attain a Master's degree, and ultimately become a university professor.
