Project Name: Rodizio Pizza Company

Project Description:
Rodizio Grill, a thriving Brazilian steakhouse in Salt Lake City, is looking to expand and branch out. The owner, a native Brazilian, would like to dabble in the pizza industry. In Brazil it is common to have restaurants similar to the Rodizio Grill where Gauchos carry the freshly cooked meat to the diner’s table where it is sliced off onto their plate. Ivan, the owner of Rodizio Grill, is envisioning the same idea using pizza instead of meats. The original Rodizio Grill is located in Trolley Square where there is a vacancy for the new Rodizio Pizza Company. The space is in need of extensive remodeling. Ivan desires the Pizza Company to reflect the style and mood of Rodizio Grill with a modern feel, catering to a youthful crowd. He wishes the space to feel open and inviting with a cafeteria-like atmosphere. The tables should be for small groups, and a larger community table or bar should be incorporated. The owner requests brick pizza ovens with a preparation and cooking area open for the customers to see. The colors should be vibrant and characteristic of Brazil. Since Ivan is inviting a younger age group, he wishes to promote friendships and dating. It is custom in Brazil to have Torpedoes in restaurants, which act as somewhat of a love note. They are passed from table to table and names and numbers are exchanged. I have incorporated this by having a card on the table with various questions inside to be answered by the desired person. While creating a youthful, exciting and social environment, the Rodizio Pizza Company is designed to address health, safety, function and aesthetics.
Biography:
Growing up on a small farm in Layton , Utah , I learned to work hard and enjoy the outdoors. There was always much to be done on the farm and plenty of hands to help in my family of seven children. When I was thirteen years old, my family moved to Padova , Italy for three years while my father was a mission president for the LDS Church . While we lived in Italy I learned the Italian language and grew to love the people and their country. When we returned I attended Layton High School and was a Senior Class officer and a member of the show choir. After graduating from high school I moved to Rexburg where I attended BYU-Idaho. While there, I became involved in the student activities and was an Executive Council member of the Associated Women Students. I was also a member of the Women's Choir on campus. I received an Associate Degree in Floral Design Management, and was awarded the Outstanding Floral Design Student Award along with a scholarship from the Agriculture/Life Sciences Department. Before I completed my degree I did a summer internship at the Fioreria Mazzucato in Padova , Italy . It was the oldest floral shop in Padova…over 100 years old! After completing my degree at BYU-Idaho I transferred to Weber State University and became a member of the Interior Design Department. I have enjoyed learning about the different aspects of design and how broad this field is. Along with my education, I have worked as a staff member of Camp Cherry Valley , a Boy Scout camp on Catalina Island ; as a bridal consultant; and most currently I work in a frame shop. I also started my own business doing flowers from my home for weddings and special events. Last August my husband and I were married and we reside in Layton .

Exploring new ideas and activities is something I love to do. Throughout my life I have had many interests. Music is a large part of my life. I have played the piano since I was six years old, and I have been singing with my family since I can remember. The farm life taught me to appreciate the little aspects of nature and see beauty in all things, even if it is just an onion crate. The farm also helped to develop my love for plants and floral design. Traveling is also an interest of mine. After living in Italy , I grew an excitement for seeing new places and getting acquainted with various cultures and people. There is much to experience in life and I have only touched the tip of the iceberg. I look forward with optimism to what lies ahead.
